Dr. Richard D. Lappen
Dr. Richard D. Lappen graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1976. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree, with honors, from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Dr. Richard Lappen has been in private practice for over 35 years, starting his own practice in 1980, specializing in fitting and evaluating all types of contact lenses and managing many eye conditions.
Dr. Lappen is board-certified in therapeutic medications in Pennsylvania and is a member of the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, a charter member of the AOA Corneal and Contact Lens Section, and the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce.
When he’s not working with patients, he’s busy keeping up with his grandkids. He and his wife Stephanie have four grandsons.
Dr. Jonathan B. Lappen
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Jonathan B. Lappen graduated from Ithaca College in New York with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned an additional degree in visual sciences as well as a Doctor of Optometry degree, with clinical honors, from the distinguished Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He interned with some of the nation’s top eye care professionals at Wills Eye Hospital and Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Associates in Ophthalmology in Pittsburgh and Eye Doctors of Washington in Washington, DC.
Dr. Jonathan Lappen returned to his wife’s home state of Louisiana in 2008 and joined the prestigious private practice of St. Charles Vision. He was named clinical director and held that position until returning home to Pittsburgh in 2018.
Dr. Lappen is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, and Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society. He specializes in comprehensive and emergency eye care and the medical management of eye disease.
Dr. Lappen enjoys running, waterskiing and watching sports. He and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two sons, Matthew and Shai.
Dr. Toby Gershon
Grew up in Lower Merion Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Biological Resources Engineering. He then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and interned locally at different practices including the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. After graduating he worked in the Philadelphia area for 8 years and met and married his wife Laura, a Pittsburgh native. They moved back to Pittsburgh with their two children Talya and Isaac in 2018. When not working, Dr. Gershon enjoys running, tennis, fishing, and gardening.
Dr. Morgan Matetic
is a Pittsburgh native who completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a pre-physical therapy concentration from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University (Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in May of 2022. Dr. Matetic is skilled in providing comprehensive eye care and the management of conditions and diseases of the visual system.
Dr. Matetic is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. While at George Washington University Dr. Matetic was a Division I athlete and scholar who contributed on and off the softball field with the many hours she worked with university related volunteer work.
Dr. Matetic is a true Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoys hiking, gardening and spending time with family.
Dr. Evan Lowry
Dr. Lowry completed an internship in pediatrics and low vision. He received further education upon graduation, and is certified to diagnose and treat glaucoma and eye diseases. He works with many ophthalmologists in Western Pennsylvania and manages pre- and post-operative cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgeries.
He manages a diverse contact lens practice that specializes in astigmatic, bifocal and keratoconic contact lenses in a variety of materials.
